This is sweet little Piper; a gorgeous, sensitive soul who is looking for her hero.

Some of you may remember Piper, she first came to Sun Valley in 2020. She was an extremely timid, nervous dog who really could not let herself trust people. She had clearly suffered during the first year of her life and never truly got over it. We called in a favour from a friend after Piper had spent months at the kennel without finding her home, and this lovely lady decided she was going to give Piper a chance at a normal life in a home. Piper lived with her for 5 years and became her pride and joy, and had really started to blossom and truly love her mum. Sadly, Piper’s amazing mum suddenly passed away and Piper found herself back at Sun Valley.

Piper must live with another dog, she loves all dogs and gets SO much confidence from them. She needs to be able to blend into the background and have another dog show her the ropes and stick by her side, so if you have a confident dog in the home already, we would love for you to consider Piper.

She needs a calm, quiet home, with an understanding family who will not put any pressure on her and will let her get to grips of her new life at her own pace. We don’t think Piper would want to live with young kids as she is just fundamentally a nervous dog who needs peace and quiet.

Piper’s mum did an outstanding job with her and she has improved dramatically over the years, but she’ll always be a shy soul – whoever takes her home will need to understand that she is a project dog and will probably regress before she improves. You can see that underneath the fear, she wants to be loved and wants to love, there’s a select few members of staff and volunteers who she is quite taken with, and this is where we see the true glimmers of her cheeky, loving and endearing personality. When she’s playing with dogs you really see her forget about her nerves and just let loose and have fun.

We so want Piper to finally catch a break after so many years of heartache and stress. If you have the time and love in your heart to take in a broken girl who just wants to be loved, please do get in touch and arrange to meet her. We love her so much here and want her back on a sofa of her own.
