Everyone, meet Clifford!
Clifford is a very special young man who has not had the easiest ride here at Sun Valley. He has been homed and returned to us, through no fault of anybody at all. Clifford is a young, bouncy, energetic, hilarious and loving lurcher who just needs the right home with people who can keep up with a young dog with a lot of energy and love to give. He needs to be enriched, entertained, adequately exercised and the chance to use his brain and burn off his energy every day. This is not a dog who will sleep on the sofa all day and be happy with a walk around the block. Clifford needs an active home with people who will take him on adventures and make sure he’s getting everything he needs. Clifford has a few lurcher buddies here at Sun Valley, and he LOVES to rough and tumble with them and have a really good run with them in the field. If you have a dog already, they’d need to be another young, active dog who wants a buddy to muck about with.
Clifford is honestly one of the most affectionate dogs you could ever meet, he just melts into your arms and really, really loves to cuddle. He’s a bit of a quirky boy and can be a handful, but we just need to find an experienced, active owner who wants the most loving shadow by their side. Kennel life can be mundane and boring for a dog like Clifford and the only way for him to learn manners and get experience in navigating the world is to find himself his own family who have the time to train and exercise him. If we can find the right home for Clifford, who are willing to settle him in to his new life, go at his pace, and work on his manners – then that person will really have hit the jackpot with an extremely special and endearing boy.
Clifford can guard high value treats, but it’s totally manageable here at the kennels and if you’re a sensible person who knows what they’re doing it can also be very easily managed at home. He doesn’t guard his food / food bowl, and you can sit with him and stroke him while he eats and snacks. It’s just really high value, long lasting treats like knuckle bones etc that he can be a bit possessive of. If we need to get him in the field and he’s in the middle of eating a high value treat, we just whack a slip lead on him, move the treat out of the way and take him in to the field. He does grumble but has never bitten anyone here. You must bear in mind that in kennel life, things like treats and toys are REALLY high value to these dogs, and when they go home and have a family, more active social life etc, these things become less valuable to them.
We think that Cliff would do best in an adult home, with the right dog / as an only dog, with people who are active and like to go out and about and out on long walks. He’s coming on leaps and bounds here at the kennel, we take him off site a lot and reports are only getting better and better.
Clifford is a quirky little man but with LOTS of potential. If you have the time for a little bit of a project dog who will reward you with the MOST affection and love you’ve ever had, please do get in touch so we can arrange for you to meet him. Clifford is a true one of a kind guy and we desperately want him to get in to his forever home and properly start his life.
