The type of home i need.

ideally a home with a garden

can live with other dogs or be an only dog

needs a calm, confident owner

Brody is an absolutely stunning young man who came to join the family in April 2024.

He came in extremely timid and nervous, and does take some time to come around to all of the new people that he’s met during his stay here. He’s quite shy and scared when he’s in his kennel, but once you get him into our field he’s a different dog; running around, cuddling up to the dog walkers, taking treats and generally being a care free lad!

We think Brody would do best in a calm, quiet home with few people in the house coming and going. He needs time to open up and gain confidence, so he needs someone who knows how to handle a shy boy and won’t push him to do things before he’s ready. Once he builds his confidence and bond with his new owner, we think he’ll be the most loyal and affectionate dog, he just needs time.

Brody had never been kennelled with another dog while he was in racing kennels, and we didn’t know how he would be once we introduced him to dogs here at Sun Valley. How surprised and overjoyed we were when we introduced him to a female grey, and saw him absolutely bubble over with happiness to have a new friend in his life for company, runs and play. He has been nothing but an absolute dream with her, and she feels totally comfortable and content with Brody. So, for now, all we know is that he can certainly live with another female hound in the home, and may actually even benefit from having another confident dog in the house to show him the ropes. If you have a non sighthound but are interested in Brody, you’re more than welcome to bring your dog along when you meet Brody so we can see how they’ll get along.

Brody really is an endearing and gentle character, and with the right people he will blossom into a fantastic companion.
